In this case study, artist duo Shahana Rajani and Zahra Malkani present materials relating to The Gadap Sessions, a six-month long course set in Gadap, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Karachi, that was part of their larger project Karachi LaJamia—a nomadic anti-institution that occupies public spaces in the city. The site-specific sessions disrupted imperial modes of knowledge production and circulation by creating non-hierarchical pedagogical environments outside of traditional student/teacher frameworks, and by working closely with organizations and activists in the city.
