Bus Tour of The American Bottom
A day-long itinerary led by Jesse Vogler and Matthew Fluharty traveling from the zero-point of the Corps of Discovery Expedition and current crossing of the Keystone Pipeline (Wood River, IL) to sites of brutal, racially motivated violence (East St. Louis), to a bottomland town flooded and relocated after a high-water Mississippi River levee breach (Valmeyer, IL), this route will look to the ways that the river–as a material, administrative, and conceptual boundary–has troubled the horizon of care and imagination in the St. Louis region.
