    Where is the Anthropocene now?

A panel discussion on where the Anthropocene is now following the February vote to reject the Anthropocene as an epoch starting c.1950.

The February vote by the Subcommission for Quaternary Stratigraphy to reject the Anthropocene as an epoch starting c.1950 has proved controversial both in substance and procedurally. From the beginning UCL Anthropocene has approached these questions in the widest terms, and now is an important moment to ask where the Anthropocene is now in terms of agendas and implications going forward from here. With the IHR’s ‘Anthropocene Histories’ seminar we will run an afternoon panel discussion on Thursday 23 May at in person at UCL and online to discuss the current state of play. Panellists and discussants will include Andrew Barry, Mariam Motamedi Fraser, Dorian Fuller, John Sabapathy, Simon Turner, Jenny Bulstrode and others.
