Slow Disaster
Seminar
This seminar, held in October 2017 as part of Anthropocene Campus Philadelphia, explored the politics of pace during disasters.
This seminar explores the dynamics and political illegibility of slow disaster. Our focus is on tactics for studying, articulating, and politicizing harms produced gradually and often “below the radar,” through entwined failures of nested sociocultural, political, technological, ecological and atmospheric conditions—failures that both result from and index “the Anthropocene.”
